A Message from Our Director: Amara Mayumi
Founder of Nisa Ventures & Manager at APRS Japan Lanka
Amara Mayumi’s journey is a testament to the power of ambition and the bridge between Sri Lanka and Japan. Having moved to Japan as a young student herself, she understands the challenges and the immense rewards of building a life in the Land of the Rising Sun.
A Legacy of Academic Excellence Amara’s academic path began at Tokai University, where she completed her intensive Japanese Language program (2017–2019). Demonstrating exceptional focus, she became one of the youngest Sri Lankans to enter a Japanese university at just 16 years old. She continued her trailblazing trajectory by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft and Aerospace Engineering at age 21—a milestone achievement in a highly specialized field. Her academic merit was further recognized as a prestigious Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship holder (2022–2023).
From Industry Professional to Education Pioneer With a professional background at the Nissan Technical Center, Amara gained invaluable insights into Japan’s corporate excellence. Today, she leads Nisa Ventures in Sri Lanka and its parent company, APRS Japan Lanka, located in the heart of Kanagawa, Japan.
Building a Global Community Beyond her business leadership, Amara serves as the Vice President of the District 2780 International Rotary Yoneyama Alumni. Her mission is rooted in "Shinrai" (Trust): providing affordable, transparent pathways for Sri Lankan students. Through her leadership, students aren't just enrolling in a school; they are joining a vibrant community. By fostering direct connections with Japanese locals, Amara ensures every student finds a "safe haven" and a profound cultural immersion from the very moment they arrive.
Meet the "Strategic Advisor & Inspiration"
Co-Founder of Nisa Ventures
The story of Boku No Academia begins with Kazumi, born in Japan and raised in Sri Lanka. As Amara’s elder sister and original inspiration, Kazumi paved the path for the establishment of this Academy through her love for Anime. Yes, as you may have noticed the name of the Academy is inspired by the famous Japanese Anime "Boku no HERO Academia: My Hero academy".
A World-Class Academic Foundation Kazumi’s journey in Japan began at the prestigious Waseda University, one of the most renowned institutions globally, where she mastered the Japanese language. She then transitioned to Tokai University for her undergraduate studies in Applied Computer Engineering, where she was recognized as the Department Top Scorer—a rare feat for an international student studying at a Japanese university in Japanese.
Advancing the Frontiers of Technology Driven by a passion for innovation, Kazumi earned her Master’s Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Tokai University. Her groundbreaking research in Soft Robotics has been published and presented at premier international conferences, including IROS and ICRA, marking her mark in the field of soft robotics supported by her professor Takemura at Tokai University.
Professional Excellence & Community Leadership currently serving as a Systems Engineer at the Nissan Advanced Technology Center in Kanagawa, Kazumi brings a high-level corporate perspective to our academy. Beyond her professional role, she serves as the President of the International Rotary Yoneyama Alumni (District 2780).
In her voluntary role as our Strategic Advisor, Kazumi utilizes her deep-rooted connections to design our Unique Pathway. She is the architect of our community integration program, ensuring that every student is not just a visitor, but a welcomed member of a Japanese cultural circle that bridges the gap between Sri Lanka and Japan.
